The “Friends of Sudan Program” (FSP) is registered as a non-governmental faith-based organization both in Kenya and Sudan. It was started in 2005. FSP has a local branch in Guatemala which is an established management office. The organization intends to establish the operations office in Sudan. Founders’ profile The organization was founded by Pastor Garang Athian Athian who is a Sudanese national. He left his mother’s land at the age of 10 for Cuba then Guatemala, Central America. This was due to the unstable conditions experienced at the time as a result of civil war. He lived in Cuba for 9 ½ years and in Guatemala for 10 ½ years until 2005 when he returned back home. This coincided with the signing of the peace treaty in Nairobi. He is a holder of a Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Administration from K. A. Smith Bible College, Guatemala. He pastored the church in Guatemala and taught in various Bible Schools. FSP seeks to address some of the issues that arose as a result of the civil war, through various workable strategies.
